Since our last post we’ve had a few echos and ultrasounds and things are looking largely the same. In this case the same = good.
To use one of Dr. T’s wonderful sports analogies, it’s like we’re in a race and we just need to make it to the finish line. We don’t need to win the race, in fact it’s ok if we are crawling across the finish line. We just need to get there.
There’s still mild leakage in the mitral valve and mild to moderate leakage in the aortic valve. But given the circumstances this is what they’d expect to see at this point. The left ventricle is still there and it’s about the same size as the right. The pressure is high in the LV and we hope it stays that way.
We received some good news from the Dr. that it doesn’t look like we’ll be dealing with full blown hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS), which is the path we were headed down prior to the surgery. Worst case is it could be a borderline case. Best case, the LV continues to grow and pump and only some minor surgeries will be needed post-birth.
In the meantime we’ve been preparing for Danger’s arrival. We ordered the crib and furniture and we’re getting excited to meet him. He’s already a very active little boy, moving around and poking and kicking mommy!
Doctor’s latest orders – eat up and get Danger nice and fat. So I’m off to have some ice cream.
Here are a few of the recent pics (he was being a bit camera shy):
